The end of the semester is coming to a close, so here are the problems I've run into trying to update daily (something that shouldn't be that hard to do).
1. I get distracted easily. It's a bit harder to study with a thousand things going on around you, and believe me, being in college, there are plenty of things to do. Having interesting roommates definitely helps.
2. Sometimes, I just don't run into interesting people. I may have simply gone from class, back home, back to class the next day. Granted, those people might be new to readers, but not to me. I want this blog to be sort of a narrative exploration of people that I run into.
3. It's not as fun as it could be. I often want to do something super-creative, and not stick to frameworks. A blog with a specific purpose, well, it defeats the purpose.
4. Not being in the mood for writing is a buzzkill too. There are days when I'm blocked.
Next step: Finding a way to rid myself of all these situations that cause me to fail at blogging.
1. Getting distracted is indeed very easy in College. You never know what will come up. Sometimes my flat-mates attack my room while I am trying to do some writing.
ReplyDelete2. I think I am quite interesting. I have been following your blog for a while now, but stopped posting on my own blog for like 8 months. Now I have started again, check it out originofuniformity.blogspot.com - you might get inspired, who knows.
3. I agree with you, sometimes frameworks are boring, but you need to have a framework to be able to do something. However, sometimes it might indeed be really cool to just do something different.
4. This relates to number 2. If you have nothing interesting to say, it is very hard to find passion in writing. Try reading interesting books, going out with friends or painting or cooking. Do not force yourself to write on your blog. Even a once a week blog can be fun - it would be like a magazine that your readers wait to come out.
Just some suggestions! Hope you start blogging again!
Merry Christmas!
